How does the garden design process work?

Get in touch
I will arrange and appointment for a free initial visit (travel costs would be charged if you live further than 5 miles from Wigston)

First meeting
At this meeting I will talk you through the design process, show you my portfolio of work and take a look at your garden. Then, if you are happy to progress, I will take a design brief from you, including some idea of your budget you want to spend, as well as your gardening likes and dislikes.

Garden design quote
I will then write to you after this first meeting confirming the brief and my design fee. The amount will depend on the size, location and complexity of the site.

The survey
Once you have approved the fee in writing and paid a £100 deposit (non-refundable) I will survey the garden, taking measurements, checking soil type and local conditions.

The plan
After the survey is completed, an initial outline plan for the garden can be drawn up. This will show the layout of the garden and its features as well as indicating which materials are to be used. I will include a mood board to help you visualise the changes proposed.

The presentation
I will come and present the plans at a time that is convenient to you (usually 2-4 weeks after my initial visit - depending on schedules) . This is an opportunity to ask questions and make any changes. One revision of the plans is factored into the overall feee - more than this will incur additional charges.

Final plan and planting plan
Approximately 2 weeks after the presentation I will send you the final plan. This will include any requested changes and will be fully detailed ready to send out to contractors for quotes for the hard or soft landscaping work.

Fees
£100 deposit as outlined above
Final payment due on receipt of final plans
To give an indication of cost a hand drawn plan for an average family garden costs between £200 and £350 depending on time spent and size of garden.  Enquiries are welcomed.
